November 12th 1955, a new German army was officially established after Germany was demilitarized at the end of World War two (1945). The Bundeswehr even became a member of NATO at that time. During the Cold War the Bundeswehr was the backbone of NATO's conventional defense in Central Europe. It had a strength of 495,000 military and 170,000 civilian personnel.
The Bundeswehr, at the moment, succeeded in becoming an army which respect the world and where the world can trust upon (see all missions they successfully participated in). How did they established this development in such a relatively short time? My research sets out the complete history from 1955 until now and even towards the future.
Best regards,
Bundeswehr Collector
